If you want to help your child prevent cavities, then our dentists, Drs. Tracy Bowden, Austin Bowden, and Margie Hernandez are happy to help you! Cavities are very serious and dangerous dental issues, and they would like your child to avoid them as well. Fortunately, there are many things you can do to help your child keep cavities at bay. Those things are:
-Help them brush and floss: Oral hygiene helps prevent cavities because it cleans the teeth and gums from plaque and bacteria regularly. So, make sure to help your child brush every morning and night and floss at least once a day. It’s best to use child-sized tools to do so.
-Bring them in for checkups: Dental checkups are very important when keeping cavities at bay. This is because our professional cleaning will remove the cavity-causing substances from the teeth and gums and help your child have the top-notch smile they need. So, make sure to bring your child in for their checkups every six months, starting around their first birthday.
-Don’t send them to bed with a bottle: If you send them to bed with a bottle of milk or another sugary liquid, then it promotes baby bottle tooth decay. If you must send them to bed with a bottle, make sure it’s filled with water.
