Tips to Help Improve Your Teen’s Oral Hygiene

Posted .

Does your teen have poor oral hygiene? If so, they likely suffer many dental issues, like tooth decay, enamel erosion, gum disease, and more. If you would like to help them have a better oral health, then you need to help them. Our pediatric dentists, Drs. Bowden, Bowden, and Hernandez, encourage you to do so by doing the following things:

-Make sure they brush, floss, and rinse. To be more specific, make sure they brush twice a day and floss and rinse daily. While doing so, make sure they use oral hygiene tools that have soft bristles, contain fluoride, and have been approved by the American Dental Association.

-If they have braces, make sure they follow the hygiene instructions provided by their orthodontist. This means they need to avoid eating sticky and chewy foods and they also need to brush and floss frequently, like after each meal and snack.

-Make sure they attend their dental checkups every six months. Their checkups are very helpful because they deeply clean the teeth and gums and help your teen prevent dental issues, like cavities, periodontal disease, and more. They also give us a chance to provide oral hygiene tips to help your teen have the top-notch oral health they deserve.
